Monday 13 th December was the final formal parade for the cadets and staff at 29F (Rugby) Squadron. All looking smart, the cadets wore their Wedgewood and ties for this evening. The squadron was visited by Sqn Ldr Foster who acted as the reviewing officer and gave a full inspection of all the cadets. The numbers turned out was impressive and as such the inspection was held outside. Even though it was cold and hands became numb, the cadets stood very smarty as they were fell in; this was a testament to the continually improving standard of drill shown by the cadets at 29F.
Once the inspection was completed the parade moved inside where many of the cadets were presented various certificates from Sqn Ldr Foster. The presentations given out ranged from classification badges, to Duke of Edinburgh's Awards and flying certificates.
Once all the presentations were completed, Sqn Ldr Foster led the cadets in either renewing, or in some cases for the first time, their Cadet Promise. Following this, the cadets were treated to drinks and chocolates given generously by 29F commanding officer, Flt Lt Smith.
The reviewing officer, Sqn Ldr Foster commented after the evening that he was “humbled to be invited to the squadron”. “It was a very rewarding evening presenting the awards to the cadets, and I was impressed with the turn out on parade. I would like to wish the squadron every success for 2011.”
Several of the cadets' family members turned up to the night and showed their support for the cadets. The evening was rounded off with a final parade and dismissal of the squadron for 2010. The cadets met once more before the year-end, to go bowling on the Wednesday evening.
