| Thursday 13 Th October was a special night for 6 cadets from 485 (Harborne and Quinton) Sqn ATC. Two Wing Blues were handed out, one Regional Marksman badge and three cadets were also formally enrolled into the Air Training Corps.
Cpl Macauley Davies was picked for the Wing football side and not only did he win his Wing Blue, he won a gold medal on the day of the competition because Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing came first on the day!
Cdt Hayden Hitchman was selected to play for the Wing Rugby seven’s team. This is a physically demanding game and the team came up against some tough competition on the day.
Cpl Reece Meek was recently successful in gaining his regional marksman badge at the Sqn’s indoor range. Cpl Meek is a very good shot and he is looking to gain his ATC marksman badge in the near future!
Cdt’s Ellie Coverson, Courtney Robinson and Bharath Kannan were enrolled into the ATC on the night by Flt Lt Simon Jennings, OC 485 Sqn. All three cadets have been at the sqn for a number of months now and it’s good to seem them formally enrolled.
Flt Lt Simon Jennings, OC 485 Sqn, commented “Recognising achievement is a great honour for me at the Sqn and I’m always impressed when our cadets make the time to both take part in sports trials, and then actually make the effort to play for our Wing. Cpl Davies and Cdt Hitchman can be proud that their efforts contributed to a great team effort on the day in their respective sports. I would like to thank FS Andy Hudson from 487 Sqn who helped Cpl Meek attain his regional marksman award; he received some great coaching from FS Hudson. Finally welcome to the three new enrolled cadets on the Sqn, I look forward to working with you in the coming years”.
