Sgt Campbell is covered in Gold!

Sunday 10 th April was a very special day for Sgt Adam Campbell from 485 (Harborne and Quinton) Sqn ATC. Twelve months of hard work culminated with him been awarded his Gold glider pilot wings.

Sgt Campbell is covered in Gold!

Sgt Campbell started his advanced gliding career when he completed in gliding scholarship in May 2010. He then progressed on to earning his silver wings in late 2010 and on 10 th April this year, he completed 4 solo flights in one day, and this combined with an earlier solo flight earned him is Gold wings.

Advanced Glider Training is not for the faint hearted and it takes a lot of commitment from the cadet to pass this course. Sgt Campbell is also a staff cadet at 633 VGS based at RAF Cosford where he spends most of his weekends helping cadets from across our wing enjoy their gliding safely.

Sgt Campbell is also expecting more Gold to come his way this year; he has recently passed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award, another great effort from this cadet.

Fg Off Simon Jennings commented “I have only known Sgt Campbell for a few weeks now, but in that time I have been impressed by his commitment to the ATC. Not only has he earned his Gold Wings, he has passed his Gold DofE award, and he is also a keen sportsman and has competed at Wing and Regional level. He is a credit to himself and to 485 Sqn and I look forward to working with him in the future as we develop our Sqn into one of the leading units in the Wing”.
