Saturday 9th July saw cadets and staff travel to the Four Dwellings School in Quinton to take part in a family fun day.

485 Sqn have supported this community event for the past few years and when they were invited to attend again this year, the Sqn immediately accepted.

The Sqn had borrowed the Wing Gazebo and along with radio equipment supplied by the Sqn, and CI Peter Coates, the cadets were ready to show all the benefits of joining the ATC to the local public.

On two occasions during the day, members of the Sqn’s drill team put on a short display to the public and this was appreciated by all who watched them. In fact during the second display, three enterprising young ladies decided that they could do drill and simply joined in with the team!

Fg Off Simon Jennings, OIC 485 Sqn commented “Although it wasn’t a very busy day in terms of recruiting I think it is still important that we show support to these local community events. We did speak to a few teenagers who seemed interested in joining the ATC so hopefully they will visit us at the Sqn. I would like to thank all the staff and cadets who attended on the day”.
