485 Sqn Set to Recruit New Cadets

485 (Harborne and Quinton) Sqn Air Training Corps are set for a busy night on Tuesday 7 th February 2012 as they look to recruit new cadets. Young Adults, both Male and Female aged 13-16 are able to join the Royal Air Force Cadets.

The Sqn, which is based at Tennal Grange, Tennal Road in Harborne is one of 27 Squadrons in the Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing of the Air Training Corps.

As a cadet you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. Want real flight experience? No problem. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about

Let's face it - where else would you be given the opportunity to fly solo in a glider or powered aircraft when you're 17? Whatever you do with your life, at the end of your time as a cadet you'll be self-motivated, confident and ready for anything.

Flt Lt Simon Jennings, Officer Commanding 485 Sqn commented “Our Sqn is very active in the Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing and we currently have over 30 cadets who regularly take part in flying and adventure traning activities. We are looking to expand our Sqn in 2012 and would welcome young adults between 13-16 to come and have a look on 7 th February at 19:30. Go on, we dare you”!
