| On Saturday 5 th July, 6 cadets along with Flt Lt Brendan O’Neill, OC 487 Sqn, travelled to DCAE Cosford to fly with the AEF. This was a re-scheduled visit; the Sqn had swapped with another unit who could not attend their AEF date in November.
Once again, this trip goes to prove that Cosford has its own weather patterns! When the cadets turned up at the Sqn, it was dark, the clouds were low and it was raining, it didn’t look promising!! However, a trip of just 30 minutes down the motorway changed all that, the weather at Cosford looked altogether more promising.
All 6 cadets flew during the day and all carried out aerobatics with their respective pilots. The sqn was helped during the day by its own staff cadet at the AEF, FS Steven Mason.
487 Sqn has been very fortunate this year, both in the number of flights and the weather we have experienced, over 20 different cadets have flown this year. The Sqn has also been able to take up other Sqn’s allocations and indeed even travelled out of our region to fly. All are looking forward to the second half of the year and more opportunities to fly both the Tutor and the Vigilant. |
