21 st October was yet another first for 487 (Kingstanding and Perry Barr) Sqn. Sgt Martin Kemp was presented with his ATC Communicators Badge by Flt Lt Brendan O'Neill, OC 487 Sqn.

Sgt Kemp is the first cadet at the Sqn to be awarded this badge and it comes after twelve months hard work. Sgt Kemp, who is currently undergoing training as a qualified aerospace instructor (QAIC), has had to pass modules such as basic communications, Data and Satellite communications and a module which purely looks at the Internet. He has also passed his full VHF/UHF operators course.

This is a long course and it takes a lot of dedication to attend all the training sessions which are necessarily spread over a long period. Sgt Kemp will now move forward in his ATC career and start to teach other cadets at the Sqn. This is a fantastic effort by Sgt Kemp.
