On 27 th March 2008, 487 Sqn held an open evening for the parents of existing cadets and also those potential recruits looking to join the Sqn. On what proved to be a very successful evening, the Sqn also celebrated the 90 th Birthday of the RAF.

Over 30 cadets were on parade on the evening, and it is estimated that there were approx 40-50 parents attending also.

The evening was kicked off by the OC 487 Sqn, Flt Lt O'Neill. A short montage of the RAF followed, ending in a video showing the new Typhoon aircraft. The main theme of the evening was to show the parents the time line of a cadet, from them walking through the door, right up to producing an excellent drill squad display.

Flt Lt O'Neill commented “This was a very successful evening and I'm sure that all the parents enjoyed seeing their sons and daughters performing to such high standards. We also attracted a potential group of new cadets, and with the celebration of the 90 th anniversary of the RAF, all in all, it was a great evening.
