On Saturday 23 rd and Sunday 24 th October, cadets from across the Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing travelled to 487 (Kingstanding and Perry Barr) Sqn to take part in a weapons training weekend which had been organised by the WABSAFT team.
A total of over 30 cadets across the two days took part in training on the No.8 rifle and also the L98A2. Comprehensive training was given by the WABSAFT instructors and the cadets then had the chance to take the relevant weapons handling test.
Those cadets that undertook training on the No.8 rifle and then passed their WHT were also able to live fire the weapon on the indoor range at the Kingstanding TA Centre.
Sqn Ldr Martin, Wing Shooting Officer commented “This has been a great weekend and I would like to personally thank all the staff who attended and I would also like to thank Sgt Andy Hudson for organising the training at 487 Sqn. The great majority of cadets who took their WHT's passed, and we also managed to give some live firing experience to the cadets who volunteered to attend the weekend.” |
