Cadets from 489 Acocks Green & Olton Squadron helped celebrate the annual Armed Forces Day which took place in Birmingham City Centre. The Squadron was invited to attend alongside the RAF Regulars to assist with promoting the great work of the Armed Forces.
The event was well attended with representation from all 3 services, veterans together with other military associated organisations. Flight Sgt Coles commented that it was an enjoyable day with a great attendance from the Birmingham Area public whom supported the event admirably.
489 Squadronn is lucky to have 3 members of its Staff whom have actually served in the Armed Forces and so an event like this is close to their hearts.

 Green Team Works
On the Bank Holiday of April 29th 2011, Air Cadets and staff embarked on a Military style fieldcraft weekend.
This included activities such as camouflage and concealment; fitness, first aid and soft skills. Cadets were split into 2 teams for a military game of "hide & seek" incorporating skills their had learn't whilst on camp and previous Squadron theory lessons.
Although this was a long and arduous weekend, the Cadets excelled themselves and had great time. They are now looking forward to using their newly acquired skills at the annual Exercise Scuttlebutt in August.
Sgt Matt Seabright said " it was good to see the Cadets outside of the Squadron and learning new skills. Camps are always a good way of identifying potential NCO's via Cadets whom excel and give 110%".
