On the 18th of December I was nominated, along with a Royal Marine Cadet, to present a cheque for £7,313.00 at Aston Villa Football ground.
The cheque was for money raised at AVFC on the 5th of November for the poppy day appeal and was presented to the Royal British Legion. This was done on the pitch at half time where a photo was taken and we were streamed live on the big screen for fifteen seconds.
We arrived at the North Stand reception at 13:30 and were met by Lynne Atkinson, AVFC Community Support Officer who gave us our tickets for the game and showed us to our seats. At half time we were taken by Lynne onto the football pitch where we presented the cheque to a representative of the local Royal British Legion Branch.
The presentation was in front of a crowd of over 37,000 people. Following the presentation we were taken to a VIP box to watch the rest of the match and were supplied with refreshments. At the end of the match we were given a bag which contained gifts from the Aston Villa football team and a programme for the match.
The whole day was amazing and we really enjoyed ourselves, thanks AVFC....
