Fanfare For Success

Daniel Harvey and brother Michael displaying the Henlow Shield and certificate of achievement.Cadet Warrant Officer Daniel Harvey, Cadet Sergeant Michael Harvey and Cadet Daniel Wilkes from Sutton Coldfield’s 495 Squadron represented Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing at the Regional Training Day held at RAF Wittering.

The three instrumentalists competed against other cadet units from across the East and West Midlands in the Band Fanfare competition. Playing the RAF’s General Salute as their competition piece the Sutton youngsters built on their previous success in the inter squadron competition to take first place in the Regional Competition. Their success earns them an opportunity to compete in the National Competition and the opportunity to become recognised as the best in the Air training Corps.

Daniel Harvey who aims to transfer to squadron staff later this year, said the achievement was an excellent effort by his team of players especially Cadet Wilkes for whom this was his first competition.
