84 Squadron Win the Wings Appeal Trophy

Cadets and Staff took part in raising money for the Royal Air Force association's Wings Appeal and collected the most money out of all the squadrons in Coventry. This is the first time they have won the trophy in over 20 years. The Squadron has now been presented with the Wings Appeal Trophy by the local RAFA. The money raised will go to providing help and care to current and retired member of the Royal Air Force.

Officer in Charge Flying Officer Spencer Davies said “The cadets have once again shown excellent commitment and have contributed an excellent effort which has been kindly rewarded” “We now look forward to supporting RAFA in their wings appeal later in the year”


Jamaine wins Top Sports Award

Fg Off  Spencer Davies presents Sgt Jamaine Donker with his well earned sports awards – Click to EnlargeA cadet of 84 (Coventry Airport) Squadron has been rewarded for all his hard efforts by being awarded the best sports cadet of the Air Training Corps.

Jamaine Donker from Potters Green, Coventry beat 35000 other hopefuls from all over the UK. This not only a first for the Squadron but also a first for the county and the region. Jamaine competed in many sports including Rugby, Football, Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country.

Officer in Charge Flying Officer Spencer Davies said “Jamaine has proven that with some hard work, focus and determination you can achieve anything.” Jamaine now has his sights set on both 2012 Olympics and joining the Royal Air Force as a Pilot.


84 train to retain their drill crown

Can they hang on to the title this year? – Click to Enlarge Cadets of 84 (Coventry Airport) Squadron start training this week in hopes of retaining the title of best drill team of Warwickshire and Birmingham. Last year they fought off 27 other squadron to become the champions and know this year they are now being closely watched.

Officer in charge Flying Officer Spencer Davies said “The team put a lot of hard effort in last year but it all paid off by winning the trophy.” Also looking to retain her crown is CWO Tessa Hegerty. Tessa won not only the best drill instructor trophy for Warwickshire and Birmingham but also went on to win the regional trophy as well.
