Cadets from 8F (1 st City of Coventry ) Squadron recently visited Binley Fire station in Coventry for a presentation on driving hazards.
The presentation was designed to highlight the implications and results of dangerous and careless driving. This consisted of a display and explanation of the equipment the fire service use at the scenes of car accidents to free trapped occupants.
The fire officers discussed the causes of accidents and the benefits of following safety procedures and protocols.
After the presentations, the cadets were given a live demonstration by the fire officers of the equipment being used on a training vehicle whilst receiving a running commentary explaining the situation and the procedures the fire officer follows.
Squadron Training Officer, Pilot Officer Amanda Hobbins said ‘The staff and cadets at 8F squadron are grateful to be given this opportunity of direct contact and training from the local fire service. Training of this kind is invaluable to young people that will be starting to drive soon and is a lesson well learned.'
