Cadet Ryan Harvey of 8F (1 st City of Coventry) Sqn has been awarded his Silver Gliding Wings, 6 weeks before his 17 th birthday.

Cadet Harvey took his solo flight at RAF Little Rissington, just 5 weekends after commencing his Gliding Scholarship.

“It wasn’t too nerve racking”, said Cdt Harvey, “I didn’t realise it was the actual flight until I landed and was handed my wings. This has been one of the best things I have ever done. I only joined the Air Cadets last September and the flying was a real attraction for me. I never thought I would be taking a solo flight in a glider just eight months later. I have been proud to tell everyone I know”.

Fg Off Sinfield, OIC 8F sqn added, “Cdt Harvey has achieved so much in such a short space of time. He is eager to get involved in everything on offer to him and his enthusiasm and commitment have been rewarded”.
