Cadets at 8F (1 st City of Coventry ) Squadron Air Training Corps have been counting up their success in the latest poppy appeal.
Cadets collected donations around the city on the two weekends in November prior to Remembrance Sunday on behalf of the Royal British Legion, Coventry No. 1 Branch.
Confirmed totals raised in 2007 far exceed those in previous years with a fantastic £4,966.86 by 8F cadets alone, an indication that the Legion has had a successful fundraising year.
Monies raised will assist the Legion in providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.
Members of 8F will be joining fellow cadets from other local Squadrons and counterparts from the Sea, Army and Fire Cadets at a ceremony on March 19 th where the total raised by the entire branch will be announced and awards for the cadets raising the highest amount will be presented.
Flying Officer Amanda Sinfield RAF VR(T), Officer in Charge of 8F Squadron said: ‘I am always proud of the commitment my cadets show in assisting the Royal British Legion to help others and I think that this is reflected in the fantastic amount that they raised‘.
