Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing have eventually taken the plunge and are just about to take a completely new direction with their Adventure Training Applications.

As of 1st March 2011 the wings 27 Squadrons will have the opportunity to submit Adventure Training Applications for both Local and Regional HQ approval via the BADER system on SMS. This is a major breakthrough and will enable units to submit applications and receive authorisation electronically, saving time, paper and expense to all.

A full introductory presentation will be made at the forthcoming Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing OC's conference, and again at the Adventure Training Officers / DofE Officer conference that will follow shortly afterwards. Links to PowerPoint presentations which show how to submit adventure training applications using BADER are now available on the Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing website - They are quite large presentations and it is suggested units download them to their own computer and run them locally.

Sqn Ldr Bryan Coats, Wing Adventure Training Officer said, “At last the Wing has the opportunity to save some trees and submit applications for any Adventure Training in the UK , at local and Regional level.  This with the added extras it brings will assist units to get approvals far quicker and more efficiently than previously and the power point presentations on the wing web site will be a real help.  We go live on 1 st Mar 2011 , and although initially I will accept both electronic and paper submissions, units will I am sure go electronic in a relatively short space of time”.
