Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing is moving full steam ahead in support of the National Air Cadet Bag Packing initiative to raise funds for the Air Training Corps.
The initiative, which is being championed by Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Gordon Moulds, has multiple spin offs, the recruitment of cadets and volunteers being just one.
Over the next three years the Commandant intends to raise £500,000 for the Air Cadets from bag packing and a further £100,000 for his nominated charity the Princess Marina Hospice, a convalescent home for injured servicemen and servicewomen.
The headquarters of a number of national supermarkets have been approached to seek support for the ATC's activities which roll out in November 2007.
Commandant Air Cadets said: "This fantastic initiative will provide significant funding for the Air Training Corps and Princess Marina House, as well as boosting adult recruiting."
Wing Commander Pravin Ladwa Officer commanding Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing in support of the initiative, said, "The Princess Marina House offers short recuperative or respite breaks to serving and ex-serving personnel, and their families. The aim is for every Squadron to raise £1K towards this worthwhile cause and that any additional monies raised would then be used to fund other enhancements to the Corps which were identified by the Cmdt." I therefore ask you to wholeheartedly support this initiative and do everything you possibly can to carry out a bag pack at your local supermarket in support of this very worthy cause. Finally, Let the Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing take the lead within our region.
