Cadet Forces Medal Awards
in recognition of 156 years of service

Six uniformed members of staff from the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing of the Air Training Corps, who have clocked up a combined total of 156 years of voluntary uniformed service, have been presented with Cadet Forces Medals and Clasps in recognition of their long and distinguished service and commitment to the Corps.

The presentation, which took place on 27 th September at the headquarters of 194 (BSA) Squadron was organised by the Officer Commanding Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing, Wing Commander Pravin Ladwa who presented Cadet Forces Medals (CFM) and Clasps to the following members of his Wing:-

  • Flight Lieutenant A.R.T Bennett - Officer Commanding 2030 (Elmdon & Yardley) Squadron, who received the 5 th Clasp to the CFM for an outstanding 46 years service, more than any other officer within the wing.

  • Flight Lieutenant B Lee - Officer Commanding 1368 ( Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa ) Squadron, who received the 2 nd Clasp to the CFM for 26 years service.

  • Squadron Leader S. D Iles – Wing Staff Officer, who received the 1 st Clasp to the CFM for 18 years service.

  • Flight Lieutenant C.J Newton - of 165 (Castle Bromwich) Squadron, who received the 1 st Clasp to the CFM for 18 years service.

  • Warrant Officer J.H Parker of 84 ( Coventry Airport ) Squadron, who received the 3 rd Clasp to the CFM for 36 years service.

  • Warrant Officer R.C Hale of 493 (Kings Heath & Moseley) Squadron, who received the CFM for 12 years service.

The Cadet Forces Medal is awarded in recognision of long and efficient service given by Commissioned RAF VR(T) Officers and non commissioned adult uniformed staff of the Air Training Corps. It is awarded for 12 years service with additional clasps being issued for every 6 (previously 8) years additional service

Wing Commander Pravin Ladwa also took the opportunity to recognise the efforts of one of his other Staff Officers, Flight Lieutenant R.W Foster, who was awarded a Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation, CVQO Certificate of Appreciation for all his hard work and commitment as the Wings BTEC Awards Officer.

Wing Commander Ladwa said, “It's important that we recognise the efforts, dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteer staff and it gave me great pleasure to present these awards today. Well done to all and keep up the good work”.
