Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing have been awarded a special Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Certificate in recognition of '1000 years' of commitment to the Scheme by its adult volunteers. A Millennium in itself.
The Air Cadets are the largest single participating youth group within the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Warwickshire & Birmingham are justly proud of their latest successes, which in the last 12 months alone has enabled over 153 of its cadets to attain Bronze, Silver or Gold level awards .
The certificate was presented to the Officer Commanding Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing, Wing Commander Pravin Ladwa by The Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Gordon Moulds MBE RAF on the 10 th March 07.
Air Commodore Gordon Moulds said, "The Scheme which is open to all cadets and is widely recognised by employers and people involved in education, is a welcome addition to any young persons CV. It has helped many young people develop their self-confidence, leadership skills and given them a sense of achievement and responsibility. I am committed to encouraging every wing within the corps to increase their level of activity within the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and am pleased to see that Warwickshire & Birmingham are helping to lead the way."
The Wing's Duke of Edinburgh Awards officer, Squadron Leader Bryan Coats said, "The Wing is extremely proud of the dedication that our staff have given the Scheme since its introduction in 1956 and this has been demonstrated by this '1000 years' commitment award".
