DofE award - Wing expedition - Yorkshire Dales National Park

Wing expedition - Yorkshire Dales National Park18 Cadets from across Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing, came together on the Yorkshire Dales National Park to achieve a highly regarded award; an award that challenges young adults in personal development skills.

Over the 4 day gold Expedition, Cadets trekked an average 80kms through wind, rain, and cloud discovering moor land tops to deep valleys. Rachael Tattersall, and Jade Hardy achieved the gold expedition phase Jade explained: " It's the hardest thing I've done to date and such a great feeling when I've completed it and I even have blisters for proof."

The expedition adventure also saw an achievement from Rachael Perry and Phil Cutts from Sutton Coldfield who have also now completed the Silver DofE award expedition phase.

Sqn Ldr Iles, Wing Adventure Training Technical Officer, explained: " The Yorkshire Dales landscape has many moods; it can be wild and windswept or quietly tranquil making a great location for cadets to explore while creating the ultimate challenge for gold Duke of Edinburgh."

With an expedition planned for late summer in Llanbedr, Wales we expect more candidates to go forth with the expedition, to challenge their skills to a higher level over the rough mountainous range, pushing them to achieve new personal challenges.
