Community Service Award Schemes - Impressive totals for Wing

I am pleased to announce that we as a Wing have now gained the impressive totals of 100,000 hrs within the Millennium Volunteers Award Scheme and 1000 Years of Adult service to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. My thanks to all units that have participated (and benefited) for all of their hard work done by the staff and cadets of every unit, which has assisted us in gaining these terrific totals.

We are the 1 st Wing in the Corps (and indeed the 1 st Organisation in the country) to have amassed, recorded and presented 1000 years (a Millennium in itself) of staff service to the DoE Scheme. Obviously units can continue to apply for further staff adult recognition certificates and this total will increase.

We are the 1 st Wing in the Corps (and indeed the 1 st Organisation in the country) to amass 100,000 hours service to the MV Scheme by our cadets, and participating staff and with the scheme winding down as of March 07/08, we will probably be the ONE and ONLY to get this coveted award.

OC Wing is now arranging suitable presentations which will be notified and publicised in due course. However the MV scheme and the benefits it attracts are still available for candidates already registered and for 12 months for new candidates (16 - 25) registered by 31 March 07. The 500 / 1000 certificates and the bonuses are however only available till 31 March 07.

I will continue to obtain Unit Certificates until 31 March 08. Well Done to all who have participated.
