Stay Safe with Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing

On Sunday 14 February 2010, 19 Staff representing 11 Squadrons from Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing attended an Health & Safety Course held at 493 Sqn HQ.

This is the first course of this type run on our Wing using HQAC advisors and hopefully paves the way for future courses for our staff.

The presenter was Mr Jim Lauder HQAC HE&E advisor. The course content covered such topics as law, legislation and risk assessment awareness training and completing the ACO RA documents.

The staff were shown examples of how to conduct and complete RA’s and then they were split up into syndicates to carry out their own RA’s on activities which included White Water Rafting to Rock Climbing.

The course ended with a test, which I am glad to say they all passed. Each candidate will receive an accredited Certificate from HQAC, which is recognised throughout the Corps. I hope that it was worthwhile, and you are able to use what you have learned when back at your respective Squadrons.

May I take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all that attended, to OC 493 for allowing us to use the HQ and particular thanks to Mr Jim Lauder.
