| For the 7 th successful year running, Air Cadets from across Warwickshire & Birmingham have come together in the mountains of Snowdonia, famous for its diverse landscapes to achieve the prestigous award that is the Duke of Edinburgh.
Staff from the Air Training Corps and Royal Air Force have supported the 28 Cadets whilst they navigated around some of wales’ most magnificant lakes, hills and beaches, covering over 50 miles and 2000ft in the most toughest challenge of their young lives.
Cadet Corparal Jo Brighton, 16 from 495 (Sutton Coldfield) Sqn says ‘ Its by far the hardest thing I’ve done so far, mentally and phyiscally challenging but I’m just glad its my last expedition now’.
Jo brighton along with many others have now completed their last stage of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, which means that in a couple of months they shall be receiving an invite to attend an awards ceromony at St James palace, in recognition of their outstanding achievement.
Squadron Leader Iles explains ‘ This has been another successful year at the excellent facility of Llanbedrs National Air Cadet Centre. The facility has allowed the cadets to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and therefore should be justafiably proud of themselves in doing so.’ |
