I have this week had a meeting with the MV Coordinator for our Region. They are suggesting to guarantee all the normal extras, that candidates apply for the 100, 200, 500 or 1000 hours awards by the end of the year.
As you are aware the scheme will start running down as of 31 March 07 ( but cadets can still register up till that date – but must complete their 200 hr in 12 months). Those registrations will attract the usual benefits.
However for 500 or 1000 hour certificates and T shirts or pens, stocks are limited and will not be replaced, so to ensure your candidates get these extras they are suggesting we should encourage all to apply for their 500 / 1000 hr awards by the end of the year.
The Wing has some 96,000 hrs already and should gain the 100,000 either this month or next, but all achievements will increase this total. We should be proud that we are not only the BEST performing Wing in the Corps, but will be the 1st in the COUNTRY to gain the 100,000 hours certificate, and most probably the ONE and ONLY Organisation to do so. I will also apply for a grand total at the end of the scheme, but it will be no more impressive than the 100,000 award.
For your information, the MV scheme apart from providing 100’s of T shirts and Fleeces, had also enabled about £20,000 to be returned to candidates, units and Wing over the 6 years we have been involved. When the replacement scheme is announced we will I am sure get all we can from it for the benefit of our cadets and units. I expect to announce the new scheme by OC’s conference in 2007.
