OC Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing, Wing Commander P Ladwa, watched as 37 Staff and Cadets from the Wing participated in a Gallery Range shooting day at Kinsbury Ranges. The cadets fired the L98A1 rifle at 100 and 200metres and CWO Roy from 480 (Studley) Squadron gained his Corps marksman during the shoot. The day was one of four long range days planned for the Wing and Sqn Leader Martin, the Wing Shooting Officer, remarked that
“The opportunity for cadets to fire on a Gallery Range is not the norm so it was good to see such a large turn-out of cadets and staff. The day also benefited from OC Wings visit as he took the opportunity to chat to the cadets about shooting in general and asked about the introduction of the new L98A2 later this year.,”
Armoury staff from DCAE Cosford delivered and collected the weapons and ammunition and despite the rainy weather in the morning the cadets enjoyed both the time spend firing the weapon and working in the Butts. They also had the chance to see the electronic targettry in action and feedback from all involved was that it was an enjoyable and active days shooting.
