Central & East Region Junior Football Trials 2011

Following W & B Wing's success at the recent Regional Junior Football Competition seven cadets were selected to attend the Regions Football Trials on Sunday 2nd Oct. 2011 at RAF Cranwell.

Disappointingly out of the seven cadets selected only 3 cadets attended. 1 cadet was injured, 1 cadet was unable to attend for family reasons and 2 cadets did not turn up on the day, which is totally unacceptable.

3 cadets were however selected to represent the Region at RAF Cosford on Saturday 15th Oct. 2011. They are:

• Cpl Lee Phipps 84 Sqn,
• Cdt Aaron Bergman 497 Sqn.
• Cdt Kamran Gahir 1368 Sqn.

Central & East Region Senior Rugby Seven's Festival 2011

The above competition took place at RAF Cranwell on Sunday 2nd Oct. 2011. on a baking hot day.

Each Squad is allowed 10 cadets but unfortunately we could only raise a Squad of 8 cadets and when 2 of our cadet suffered injuries during the day, this combined with the hot weather proved too much of an obstacle and we ultimately finished in 5th place.

After losing all of our team from the past 2 or 3 years due to their ages, this was a fairly young team and we need to start rebuilding again for the future.

The under mentioned cadets have been selected to attend the Region Senior Rugby Trials at RAF Brampton on Sunday 20th Nov.2011 in order to select a team to take part in the Corps Senior Rugby 15's Championships at RAF Cosford on Sat. 3rd Dec.2011.

As Rugby Sevens teams do not normally include the larger players from the forwards (Front Five) if there are any experienced rugby players in the Wing who play in any of these position and who wish to attend the Regional Trials they should contact the Wing Sports Officer Sqn.Ldr P.J.McCarroll. Cadets should be 16 years and over on 1st Sept.2011 and under 19 years of age on 1st May 2012.
