Wing Chairman - Ann C. Pearmain

I became involved with the Air Cadets in 1986 when my son joined 492 (Solihull) Squadron as a cadet. The Civilian Committee beckoned in 1992 and I became Squadron Chairman in 1993. Six years later, I took on the role of Deputy Wing Chairman in addition to my responsibilities at 492 Squadron. I was then invited to take over as Wing Chairman and was officially appointed in May 2005, at which time I stepped down from 492 (Solihull) Squadron after 13 very happy years.

My role as Wing Chairman involves supporting the 26 civilian committees within the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing. This includes visiting as many squadrons as possible in order to meet the staff, civilian committee members and cadets, dealing with queries and issues from the committees as they arise. I also provide an important link between the civilian committees and the uniformed staff. I chair the regular Wing Executive Meetings where, together with the Wing Commander, WAdO (Wing Administration Officer) and the Honorary Wing Treasurer, relevant matters are discussed with all squadron chairmen within the Wing. Additionally, I represent Wing at the Central and East Regional meetings, which comprise all Wing Chairmen in the region.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to attend cadet event days and squadron presentation evenings where I am able to see the excellent achievements of the cadets first hand. It is good to be a part of a team, which shows such commitment and enthusiasm to the ATC.
