Wing Warrant Officer

Warrant Officer Jim Sinfield
Wing Warrant Officer

Joined 8F (1 st City of Coventry) Sqn in December 1985 after being introduced by a friend. I was best cadet for 1987. Reached the rank of CWO in September 1991.

As a cadet I achieved my Gold D of E, my RAF Marksman and attended many camps including 3 in Germany. My main interests were shooting and adventure training and I enjoyed my many weekends away. I also enjoyed instructing drill and training the squadron drill team.

On leaving as a cadet in September 1993, I transferred to 163 Sqn as a Civilian Instructor and was then appointed as a Warrant Officer in March 1995. I quickly sought to rekindle all of my previous cadet interests by undertaking range conducting officers courses, my Drill Instructors course at RAF Cranwell in July 1996 and more recently my Basic Expedition Leader’s Award to continue to support cadets with their D of E and adventure training. I became a member of the Wing Training Team in 1996 and am still a very active member now, assisting on the many leadership courses held at DCAE Cosford.

In June 2003 I was appointed as the Wing Warrant Officer and left 163 squadron to become a member of the Wing Staff. I now aim to support and advise potential and newly appointed SNCO’s into the Wing as well as acting as a point of contact and reference for discipline, drill and dress regulation queries from all members of the wing, including our cadets.

My civilian occupation is as a HGV driver for a frozen food company. I am married with a young daughter and twin boys and I enjoy watching the football with a cold beer!
